Cadavres Exquis #41 - Especial The Sound

Três motivos que me fizeram homenagear o The Sound neste programa:

1. No último domingo (26 de abril), completou-se 16 anos que o  vocalista Adrian Borland deu fim a própria vida. Para compensar a falta que o cara nos faz, nada como aqueles gracejos discográficos/póstumos que deixam qualquer fã satisfeito;

2. Em fevereiro foi lançado mais um box que representa a segunda metade da trajetória da banda. O primeiro, contendo os primeiros álbuns, foi relatado aqui e na época descrevi a minhas expectativas para uma continuação, que finalmente completaria a reedição dos seus álbuns em cds remasterizados. Não demorou muito para que isso acontecesse! Bem, resumindo a história contida nesta caixa: depois de iniciar a carreira pelo selo Korova (Echo & The Bunnymen, Strawberry Switchblade etc), a banda assinou com a Statik Records (o mesmo que descobriu The Chameleons) e lançou mini-LP Shock Of Daylight, seguido dos álbuns Heads And Hearts e In the Hothouse (duplo,  ao vivo no Marquee).  O The Sound ainda gravaria mais um disco (Thunder Up) pelo selo belga Play It Again Sam, antes de pendurar as chuteiras. Como toda edição "deluxe" que se preza, aqueles aperitivos como lados B de singles, demo tapes nunca editadas e músicas inéditas não poderiam ficar de fora. O cd Propaganda (reprenssagem da edição esgotada de 1999, da extinta Renascent), aparece como "bônus", já que seu contexto difere dos demais (que cobrem a fase de 1984 à 1987); temos aqui um registro da banda nos seus primórdios (pré-Korova), e, evidentemente, deveria ter sido parte da primeira caixa. Mas enfim, é um material indispensável, pois é um apanhado das primeiras gravações feitas na casa dos pais de Adrian em 1979, pouco depois dissolvição do The Outsiders. Esta é a chance de ter numa tacada só a discografia deste que foi um dos grandes frutos do pós-punk inglês. E em grande estilo, como os grandes clássicos merecem!

3. Um documentários sobre Adrian e o The Sound deve ficar pronto até agosto deste ano. Entre depoimentos de amigos, parentes e ex-integrantes, o material contará com imagens inéditas e raras tanto de apresentações como backstage! Neste trecho [clique aqui] dá para ter uma idéia do que vem por aí.
